Phase 1: Preparation
Evaluation
As a group we assessed CMS’s goals to determine what aspects of their website most needed closer examination.
Individually, we tried out a few of key actions to discover what worked and didn’t work on the website.
To the right is an example from my usability review that shows an example of brief critiques and example pages that connect.
Phase 2: Testing
Script Writing
Our group combined individual strengths to create rough draft components that we could edit into a concise script for user tests.
We tested the script, and then updated for clarity.
Because we spent time reworking the script, the interview process went smoothly and we only needed minor on the spot changes to keep interviews flowing.
User testing
Our evaluation Team consisted of a moderator and three observer/note takers
We gave the users, who fit into the main demographic for CMS, tasks that most customers would need to utilize services provided by CMS
Many of the users had similar views of the function of the website and found the same errors.
Phase 3: Reporting
Analysis
In this phase of our Findings and Recommendations report we arranged the information from our users into relevant categories.
Using the information we gathered I formulated a Findings and Recommendations report which you can find in the next section.
Findings and Recommendations
In my Findings and Recommendations report I showed Colorado Mountain School a couple of things they could do to increase ease of use for customers. I also noted some visual problems with the spacing of banners and wasted header space on the page
Finally
This was a great project to be involved in. Our team found our roles in the midst of Phase one, and was able to blaze forward up and over the mountain of data we collected. I think we all learned how to be more expressive in a work environment, and listen to learn how we could stay on task together. If it’s one thing we can all learn from eachother is that we can accomplish great things together.
